NutriBANG!!
A user-friendly app that simplifies calorie tracking and meal planning with personalized nutrition insights, gamification, and fitness goal integration for beginners and fitness enthusiasts alike.
The Project:
NutriBANG!! focuses on making the transition to a healthier lifestyle easier for first-time gym-goers by simplifying nutrition tracking and meal planning. The project explores how a user-friendly interface, gamified progress tracking, and personalized meal suggestions can help reduce the overwhelming nature of calorie counting. Designed to address the unique challenges faced by beginners, NutriBANG!! aims to provide a seamless experience that supports users in achieving their fitness goals with confidence.
Role: Sole designer
Duration: 12 weeks - Current
Tools: Figma
Value Proposition:
NutriBANG!! is unique because it combines personalized nutrition tracking with gamification, making the process both engaging and simple for users, especially beginners. Unlike many calorie-counting and fitness apps that can feel overwhelming, this application offers an intuitive experience that encourages consistent use and goal achievement. Below are some value to the project:

-
Beginner-Friendly Nutrition Guide: Simplify calorie tracking by breaking it down into food groups, portions, and healthy choices without overwhelming users with numbers. Instead of raw calorie values, I’ll use visuals, portion guidance, or simple prompts/scales to interact with.
-
Goal-Oriented Meal and Workout Suggestions: NutriBANG!! will offer a Goals Onboarding experience where users can set their specific fitness objectives. From there, the app could suggest meals and workouts that align with each goal, removing the confusion around questions like "What should I eat today?"
-
AI-Powered Scanner for Personalized Suggestions: If users scan a food item, the app could provide unique suggestions and recipes based on their goals + items logged. This feature could analyze items in the fridge to recommend a balanced meal, for example.
-
Gamified Progress Tracking: Instead of traditional logging, I want to allow users to “level up” based on healthy choices, streaks (days of meeting fitness or nutrition goals), or fitness challenges. Gamification makes it easy for beginners to feel motivated and learn about nutrition in small steps.
-
Customizable Workouts and Meal Prep Plans: Beginner-friendly, customizable workout and meal prep plans that are short and flexible. For example, create daily or weekly “Challenges” like hitting a target for protein intake or hitting a certain amount of steps per day.
Primary Research:
Seven users were interviewed via a mix of video calls, and in person interviews. These individuals ranged from completely new gym goers to those who don’t visit the gym at all, but still intend to either lose, or gain weight to certain extent. The age range of these interviewers were mainly within the 16-25 category, with a couple in the 45+ category. Each interview took rough 30-45 minutes. Because there was little time constraints, it was easier to diverge into deeper topics throughout the interview process, instead of sticking exactly to the script.
Research Persona:
To better understand the needs and challenges of first-time gym-goers, we created a detailed persona representing individuals new to fitness and nutrition tracking. This persona highlights the key pain points, such as feeling overwhelmed by calorie counting, meal planning, and balancing a busy lifestyle with health goals. By focusing on these challenges, we ensured that NutriBANG!! would provide a user-friendly solution tailored to simplify the journey toward healthier living.

Sample Information Architecture:
The information architecture for NutriBANG!! was designed to ensure a seamless user experience by organizing key features into intuitive categories. Core sections include a Dashboard for tracking daily progress, a Scanner for instant food item analysis, and a Recipe Hub that suggests meals based on available ingredients. Additional sections like Workouts and Goal Tracking provide personalized fitness recommendations, while Settings allow users to customize preferences. This structure ensures first-time gym-goers can easily navigate the app, stay motivated, and achieve their health goals with minimal effort.
